OUR MISSION

OUR PLACE IN NAPANEE

Every person and family in our Community needs the access to, and support of a church body who can minister into their hearts the love and care and guidance they need for healing, help and direction.

Individual people and families go through many challenges and stages of transition and uncertainty in their lives, and most often it is unexpected. This is a fact of humanity and our society. But where do you go when you need clarity, direction, or some foundation of peace and hope?

OUR PURPOSE

Our Purpose at Calvary Church is to be a safe haven in troubled times, helping anyone who is looking for some way forward towards peace, hope, a new life – and a better one than they have experienced.

OUR MISSION

Our Mission is to introduce people to the life-saving grace and love of Jesus Christ, who died for our sins, and to help us grow in a relationship with our Saviour. He alone has all the answers. We strive to minister as Jesus would minister. To care as Jesus would care.

Jesus said, “By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you love one another”. When we love, we are to share His heart and share His message. God is vitally interested in transforming lives, and we teach the transforming work of His Holy Spirit in the lives of all who come to Him.

Calvary Church has been serving our community for over 70 years and we welcome everyone. We look forward to seeing you soon!

What We Believe

Calvary Church is an Apostolic church and identifying as such means that we believe that the pattern, power, and promises for God’s Church, as it was founded by the Apostles, are meant for us today. The worship, doctrine, and fellowship practiced by the Book of Acts church are still relevant. The power of the Holy Spirit transforms lives today as it did on the Day of Pentecost. The promises of miracles, including healing, are for those who believe in Jesus Christ.

The Bible
The Bible is simply God’s Word. If we are to have relationship with Him on earth and spend eternity with Him in Heaven, then we must accept the Bible as the authority for salvation and Christian living. (II Timothy 3:15-17, John 8:31-32)

God
There is one God. He is our heavenly Father. He came to earth as Jesus Christ, both fully God and fully man. He is the Holy Spirit that will live inside anyone who receives Him. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 9:6-7; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; I Timothy 3:16)

Sin & Salvation
Everyone has sinned and needs salvation. Salvation comes by grace through faith in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:23-25; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9)

The Gospel
The saving gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We obey the gospel (I Peter 4:17; Mark 16:15-16; Luke 11:28; Romans 1:16) by repentance (death to sin), water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (burial), and the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial sign of speaking in tongues as the Spirit demonstrates (resurrection). (I Corinthians 15:1-4; Acts 2:4, Acts 2:37-39; Romans 6:3-4)

Christian Living
As Christians we are to love God and love people. We should live a holy life inwardly and outwardly, and worship God joyfully. The supernatural gifts of the Spirit, including healing, that God gave the church in the beginning are still for the church today. (Mark 12:28-31; II Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 12:14; I Corinthians 12:8-10)

The Future
Heaven is real. Jesus Christ will return to take all who have an obedient, loving relationship with Him to live eternally in Heaven. But Hell is real, too. Although Jesus wants no one to go there, those who refuse to have a relationship with Him will spend eternity there. (I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11-15)
